Important Information Regarding Emergency Room Construction

Please note that BMH’s Main Entrance is closed as of November 12, and will not be accessible for approximately the next seven months while the hospital adds 2,500 square feet of space for an expanded Emergency Department and larger main lobby. During this phase, the Richards Building ground floor lobby will serve as the main hospital entrance for all non-emergency services.

For Patients and Visitors

BMH has installed a small kiosk near the Belmont Avenue entrance which will be staffed to provide directions. In addition, lawn signs will be used to direct traffic to the Richards Building entrance.

Volunteers will be stationed inside the Richards Building lobby to guide patients and visitors to their destination. Additional signage and an Telephone Operator will also be installed in the Richards Building lobby to provide further assistance.

The current Emergency Department entrance will act as the main hospital entrance on weeknights after 8:00pm and after 12:00noon on Saturday and Sunday.

For Hospital Staff and Volunteers

Due to the confusion that closing of the hospital main entrance will cause some of our patients and guests, it is even more important that employees park only in designated employee spots. Employees may enter at locations other than the Richards Building, such as through the Dunham Wing and Sun Porch entrances by using their codes. Doing so will allow you to park closer to the construction area, while freeing spaces near the Richards Building for patients and guests.

If you should see a person on campus whom appears befuddled by our construction, please offer to assist them in getting to their destination.

Thanks for your help as BMH strives to improve our facility to better service our community.
